Have a 2000 camry and timing belt never changed. Removed timing belt and replaced waterpump. Marked old timing belt with new one and installed. Could not find any info on google for camshaft and crankshaft timing marks.

Removed timing belt and replaced waterpump,idler pulley and idler tension pully. Marked old timing belt with new one and installed.

Hopefully no damage occured as it only idled for a few seconds. Took off outer cover and new timing belt was loose. Below is a file on replacing the belt. Go to page EM-78. For cam pulley alignment. Look at the upper front area of the upper cam bearing mount closest to the pulley.
Look down from the pulley side at the mount area. There is a notch centered on the highest point of the mount. For the cam pulley, one sprocket spoke has a small hole in it. Rotate the pulley until the hole is at the top of its rotation. Look through the hole from the front of pulley, center the hole on the notch. This aligns the cam pulley.
For the crank pulley, rotate the crank until it is at 0 degrees TDC as outlined in the first link above. You will need to install the timing cover to do this. Install the belt per instructions. Rotate the crank 2 times and recheck the cam/crank pulley alignment. It should be aligned as per page EM-78. If the belt was loose try this. Install belt, release idler pulley to allow it to push on belt.
While rotating the crank CW tighten idler pulley hold down bolt. You may be able to do the above with the lower timing cover still on.
