System Interrupt Controller Driver Hp Proliant Dl380p G8

Hi, I've been struggling with this for a little bit including with the Gen7 Series of HP Servers. I was asked to get a quote for a server that will be used for video recording, therefore needs a large capacity.

This page contains the driver installation download for System Interrupt Controller in supported models (ProLiant DL380p Gen8 (671163-425)) that are running a supported operating system.

Request: Windows Server 2008 9TB of USABLE space Expansion card for future expansion of space. ---- Seems fairly straightforward. However, to achieve 9TB of usable space, you need to have enough available slots on the server, which is where HP is lacking. I would prefer to end up with something like this: 2 x 500GB (3.5') Sata Drives RAID 1 for OS 5 x 3TB (3.5') SAS Drives RAID 5 for the Data.

This will give me 11TB of usable space. If I do 4 drives, I'm at 8.3TB's or so.

1 Expansion CARD for future expansion. I have worked with CDW and they haven't been able to come up with a working solution. With the HP Gen7 series of servers, you can have a DL380p + External Drive Cage D2700. I believe this is the closest to a working solution, but doesn't allow for more expansion (as I understand it down the line). The HP Gen8 servers only offer 2.5' Drive sizes, and a maximum of 8 slots.

Because our company is reselling the product, HP does not offer 3.5' Drives in the Gen8 series.according to our CDW rep. Does anyone have a solution, the customer wants HP. I know Dell launched their new servers, and one of them has 15 (or 16) drive bays on the server, and than you can add expansion later on, which seems perfect.but the customer is an HP shop. Any help would be appreciated. This is also good to note: NOTE: HP ProLiant DL380p Series servers offer both LFF, and SFF versions. The Optical Drive bay is not available with +8SFF drive bay optional upgrade.

NOTE: LFF versions is not an upgradeable option from SFF models, or vice versa. LFF is only available as a CTO option HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 8 LFF Configure-to-order Server 665553-B21 Factory Integrated Model ships with: 2 x HP Smart Socket Guides for fast processor installation. I don't know if HP would put any limitation on that, but suppliers that you would get it from will most likely not stock CTO options, especially with this being so new. Another option would be to get the optional secondary drive cage and use more SFF disks Those can be sized up to 1TB.

A couple quick questions / comments. • If you do go with 3TB SC Midline drives, RAID 5 is VERY dangerous. Go RAID 6 or RAID 1. The larger the drives and the lower the quality, the greater the risk of data loss with RAID 5 (plenty of information on the dangers of RAID 5 in the community) • You mentioned that this will be used for video recording. Have you sized or have an idea about how much I/O you need? Make sure you size for I/O as well as capacity. Some video applications will have a reasonably low I/O (i.e security camera recording) while others are very intensive (i.e.

Video editing). Call HP and get it direct.

I had one CDW rep sell my predecessor 50k in licenses that were bad and we didn't figure out until 3 years later. Go to the source when buying these products and then TELL the CDW rep what you want. They will sell you what makes them money and they are all commission based.

Daniel is correct on the 3TB p/n. Here is the DL380p quickspecs with 8 drive slots.

It will allow for expansion of one more drive than your requirements and DAS later if need be. 3TB SAS P/N - 652766-B21. I suspect a few mode drive heavy models will be on their way. As of today I would look at these two options.

Clicking on them will give you an idea of drive availability. Parts (drives, RAM, etc) also often have Smart Buy models too. You'll need to search them seperatly. Wolfenstein 3d Game Free Download For Windows 7.

CTO is a custom built PC (think Dell) and is available direct from HP. I've never bought CTO, it's never the lower cost option. CDW and other resellers sell pre-configured or Smart Buy models. Smart Buy Models are the Same as pre-configured,but tend to be lower cost/better availability. 90% of what I buy (by dollar value) is Smart Buy.

CDW and other large resellers have HP Staff in the building and available on the phone. If you don't have a sales guy that will use this resource on his own, ask him to.

If he still won't call the sales manager and change reps. The HP staff CDW has at their disposal are great, but may need prompting to dig into Smart Buy SKUs for parts like RAM or other upgrades.

Both the CDW and HP reps will often miss lower cost ways of getting the configuration you want based on modifying vs. Finding a SKU that has what you need. For example many of the 350 G4P Smart Buys did not come with a rackmount kit or second PSU, but it was 20% less to start with the tower Smart Buy server and conversion parts than a server that was the pre-configured rack mount.

I called HP and got what I needed, and my rep has said he's been talking with HP, and that they are in the same building, not sure why there was a disconnect in my instance. But HP quoted me a good price, and the server is configured to my liking. Before I posted I had called HP and the first rep I spoke with told me that LFF were available but at a max of 1TB. So that threw me for a loop, I think he had bad information. The person I spoke with today was very helpful though and knew his stuff.

Hello Suveesh, thanks very much for owning a ML 380p G8 server. If you don't get any responses from the experts in this Community, you may want to submit a new posting as this is an older, closed posting. Doing so most likely will generate responses. Alternatively, if you don't get feedback and issue remains unresolved, you may want to work with HP's Support Team. One way to do this is to send me the product number, serial number and your contact information.

Did you notice the footnote for the ML 380p G8/ Windows 2008 R2 in the Proliant server matrix? '(2) ProLiant Generation 8 and Windows Server 2008 R2 is supported by HP when utilizing Service Pack 1 only.' See matrix and note at: Regards.

HP publish a thing called a 'ProLiant support pack'. This is a big download containing drives and firmware for ALL devices on all servers, with an installer shell, which determines the required components and kicks off the installs. A new PSP is released every couple of months or so. One would have shipped with the server from new. It was free to download, but more recently, HP have been A55h0les and will not supply this without a maintenance contract of some sort in place.

It is probably possible to download a 'pirate' PSP, however we cannot assist you with that on Experts Exchange.
